Hikari-Muji
In Japanese, hikari is the work for “shining.” Thus this category is made up of metallic koi of one color. Its development was the impetus for the development of other metallic varieties. The two main varieties in this group are the Ogons and the Matsubas. The Ogons are solid colored, and the Matsubas have scales that are dark in the centers, giving a pinecone effect. Ogons come four varieties: yamabuki (yellow-gold), purachina (white), orenji (orange), and nezu (mouse grey). |
